PTC Pro Brian Parkkonen Chosen to Coach at International Tournament

Sumter, SC ‑ The staff at the Palmetto Tennis Center is proud to announce that Brian Parkkonen, the Center’s Head Professional, has been selected as a coach for the 2009 Junior Orange Bowl. Parkkonen is one of only 16 coaches from across the United States chosen to lead the U.S. team.

 The Junior Orange Bowl is widely considered to be one of the most elite junior tennis tournaments, attracting players from around the globe. Past Junior Orange Bowl players who have gone on to the professional circuit include Chris Evert, Monica Seles, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

 Brian Parkkonen is certified as a United States Tennis Association High Performance Coach and as a Professional with the Professional Tennis Registry. He majored in Professional Tennis Management at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI and has been coaching tennis for eight years. He has coached the South Carolina Junior Davis Cup Team, the USTA National 14s Talent Camp in California and the Florida Xonals 16s team. Before joining the Palmetto Tennis Center  in 2006 as a Head Professional, Parkkonen worked at the Van Der Meer Academy in Hilton Head and for the Tennis Corporation of America in Westin, FL.
