This July we are proud to present Roman Holiday, the 1953 romantic comedy that brought Audrey Hepburn to national attention.
Princess Ann, a young noble on a whirlwind tour of Europe’s capital, grows weary of her constant obligations and duties. Falling asleep on a park bench in Rome, she is woken by reporter Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck). Gradually the two begin a romance, hiding from the other their true roles in life. Will these two lovers end up together, or will their official responsibilities keep them apart?
For fans of Hepburn, Roman Holiday is required viewing, as it marks the actresses first major film appearance. However, Roman Holiday is a great film for all movie-goers, as it presents a classic tale of love and comedy set against the backdrop of 1950s Rome.
The cost is only $2.50 (two dollars and fifty cents) per person and all proceeds will go the Sumter County Library Children’s Programs. Seating is limited so come early.
