Description: The City of Sumter's three HOPE Centers provide spacious, modern meeting facilities in various areas of the city. Multipurpose rooms, complete with stages and adjacent warming kitchens available, can accommodate large or small groups. The Birnie HOPE Center is conveniently located at 210 S Purdy Street and is available for Friday evening and Saturday rentals. Each facility can seat up to 400 and rents for $50 an hour plus refundable deposit.

 GARDEN STREET SHELTER
Swan Lake Iris Gardens - Garden Street
Covered Picnic Shelter - 8 Picnic Tables - Seats 65
Description: The Garden Street Shelter is beautifully situated among towering pines and magnolias on the gently sloping grounds of the Heath gardens, and offers a stunning panoramic view of swan Lake. The facility features eight picnic tables and space for a portable grill (please see Visitor's Center staff for grilling guidelines). Public restrooms are located nearby. The shelter offers a comfortable setting for any outdoor get-together. The shelter rents for $25 and can accommodate 65 guests.

  HEATH PAVILION

Covered Semi-Open Facility with Kitchen - 21 Large Picnic Tables - Seats 210
Description: Heath Pavilion, a rustic indoor/outdoor facility, is surrounded by a variety of trees, shrubs and flowers in a peaceful setting adjacent to the Heath Gardens. The Pavilion is outfitted with a large warming kitchen, twenty-one large picnic tables, ceiling fans and retractable screens to make it suitable for outdoor functions in most types of weather. Restrooms are located nearby. The atmosphere of the Pavilion accommodates every type of group gathering from a country-styled pig-pickin' to a formal wedding reception. The Pavilion can seat 210. Evening and weekend rental is $60 an hour plus refundable deposit; please call for daytime rate and guidelines.

 MEMORIAL PARK GAZEBO

Description: Memorial Park Gazebo is a majestic Greek-styled structure located amidst the imposing oak trees and cultivated gardens of the historic district's Memorial Park. It provides a secluded location with a splashing fountain and blanket of lush vegetation as the background for a range of gatherings. The gazebo can be rented in two-hour increments for $25.

Description: Located adjacent to the Sumter Opera House, the City Centre features beautiful antique wood floors, exposed brick walls and vast expanses of glass. This historic facility will seat 100 people and accommodate up to 200 people reception-style. Evening and weekend rental is $80 per hour, along with a refundable security deposit. Please call for daytime guidelines and rental rate.

Description: Swan Lake-Iris Gardens Gazebo is a picturesque Victorian-style structure nestled among fragrant spring blooms and the lush green year-round landscape of the historic Bland Gardens. The gardens provide a stunning backdrop and atmosphere for any event; the gazebo is especially popular for springtime weddings. The gazebo can be rented in two-hour increments for $25.

Description: The Swan Lake Visitor Center is a completely enclosed facility conveniently located inside the main entrance to the gardens. A full glass wall frames a stunning view of mature dogwoods and azaleas. The spacious conference/reception area is completely equipped with a warming kitchen, banquet-size tables, round tables, chairs and a professional sound system. The brick walls, tiled floors, and adjustable lighting create a delightful ambience for a variety of occasions. The Visitor Center can accommodate 125 for a seated event and is available for rent at $80 per hour for evenings and weekends, plus a refundable deposit. Please call for daytime rental rate.
