Welcome to the Sumter Police Department. The Sumter Police Department is a accredited agency and continues to assess and improve to meet the needs of the citizens in the City of Sumter.
The Sumter Police Department is located in the City-County Law Enforcement Center. This center is occupied by the City Police Department and the County Sheriff's Department. This joint operation is unique and beneficial to the City and County Citizens. With shared communications (dispatch) central telecommunications, records, administration and work jointly to protect and serve the needs of the citizens both departments are on alert and aware of their surroundings within the City and County at all times.

Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Sumter Police Department to fairly and impartially enforce the laws of the City of Sumter and State of South Carolina in order to protect life and property and to preserve peace and order for the citizens and visitors of the City of Sumter.
