PLANNING COMMISSION TO HOST 2030 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OPEN HOUSE

SUMTER - Sumter residents will get another chance to glimpse future development plans for both the city and county during an open house 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at the City Centre on Main Street

Hosted by the Sumter City-County Planning Commission, the event will give Sumter residents a chance to voice their comments and concerns about the newly-drafted 2030 Comprehensive Plan.

The Planning Commission has begun work on the Draft Plan developed over the last eight months by the Citizen Task Force. The Comprehensive Plan is designed to guide where Sumter grows, how it grows, and what that growth looks like over the next twenty years.

“The purpose of the open house is to give the public an opportunity to review the draft land use maps and policies contained in the 2030 Plan,” said City-County Planning Director George K. McGregor.

Maps, goals, and policies developed by the Task Force and Planning Staff will be available for review, comment, and input.
