PROCLAMATION

"CRESTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL MARCHING KNIGHTS 3rd ANNUAL BATTLE OF THE DRUMLINES DAY"

The Marching Knights is the band entity of the music program at Crestwood High School. The Marching Knights have incorporated a style that is unique to the Sumter Community and have performed tirelessly at football games, parades, band competitions and various other functions throughout the state and country. The Marching Knights have traveled to North Carolina A&T State University to attend University Day and to Bethune-Cookman College at Daytona Beach, Florida, and members of the band have developed a growing enthusiasm to attend college to further their music talents. Crestwood High School and the Crestwood High Band Booster Club are extremely proud of the Marching Knights Band and will sponsor the school’s 3rd Annual Battle of the Drumlines competition on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Sumter County School District Stadium. Drumlines from across the state have been invited to participate in this exciting event, which will include free percussion clinics and an exhibition performance by North Carolina A&T’s “Cold Steel” drumline. The Crestwood High School Marching Knights Band deserves special recognition for its many musical contributions to Crestwood High School and the Sumter Community.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Joseph T. McElveen, Jr., Mayor of the City of Sumter, do hereby proclaim Saturday, March 6, 2010 as
