PROCLAMATION  

“DOUBLE DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIP DAYS”

On June 17-19, 2010, the South Carolina Double Dutch Board, the Sumter County Recreation Department, the City of Sumter, the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, and the American Double Dutch League will celebrate the 37^th Annual World Invitational Double Dutch Championship at the Sumter County Exhibition Center. Double Dutch is a team sport involving two jump ropes being turned in an egg beater style around one or two people. Participation in Double Dutch builds self-esteem, provides positive alternatives to anti-social behaviors, and enhances physical well being of young people. More than one hundred athletes nationwide and in foreign countries have participated in Double Dutch programs for the chance to compete in the World Invitational Championship today in the City of Sumter.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph T. McElveen, Jr., Mayor of the City of Sumter, do hereby proclaim June 17 - 19, 2010 as: 

“DOUBLE DUTCH CHAMPIONSHIP DAYS”
in the
CITY OF SUMTER 

and encourage all citizens to join me in congratulating the participants in the 37^th Annual American Double Dutch League World Invitational Championship.
